CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT

Steve Kirkham

After receiving his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 1992, Steve joined forces with Bruno in 1994 to help small to medium sized, owner-managed businesses with small business bookkeeping services and to deal with the complicated tasks of filing a variety of government compliant returns. With over 20 years experience in the public accounting arena, Steve has seen numerous types of business and personal situations and has had many dealings with various levels of government regarding tax and compliance issues.

Steve understands that simply preparing financial statements and filing both corporate and personal tax returns is not something in itself that brings great value to his clients. Although through this he is able to take a great burden off their shoulders and allow them peace of mind with respect to these mandatory requirements.

In order to better provide value to his clients, Steve has undertaken a commitment to offer them more of a proactive approach - looking forward into what they can do rather than dwelling on the past and what has already happened. Whether it is structuring affairs such that maximum tax savings are achieved or helping a client map out projections and goals for the coming years, Steve's main goal is to see his clients prosper.

Outside of the office, Steve is kept busy with the family - his wife, Sherry, Erin (16), Justin (12) and Gavin (7). They all have varied interests to keep the parents "on the go". Erin paddles for the Burloak Canoe Club, Justin swims with the Oak Acquatic Club and enjoys Art Classes, while Gavin loves to get Dad out on the driveway for some hockey and basketball. They all try to get some down-time in over the summer at the cottage where the kids enjoy various water sports and Steve can sneak out early in the morning to get some fishing in.

Linda Harris - Administration

Residing in Oakville for 16 years, Linda has become an avid user of the many trail systems and walkways available throughout the area. She can often be seen taking her dog for lengthy walks along the 16 Mile Creek trails.

Linda has two children, ages 21 and 17 in whom she tries to instill her love of the outdoors. She and her husband enjoy the sport of powerwalking and have entered numerous 10 km, half marathon and full marathon races in Ontario, New Brunswick, Cleveland and Big Sur, California.

Linda is an important team member of Steve Kirkham C.A. - Professional Services as she keeps us together. She's responsible for ensuring client files are monitored as they come in and out of the office and ensures client paperwork is accurate and delivered on a timely basis. She keeps us organized and monitors the clients year ends to ensure we’re doing what we should do, when we should do it.

Sherry Skippen - Bookkeeper

Born and raised in Alberta, Sherry spent her first 30 years there. After school she worked for a large oil company in the accounting department. She and her husband, Grant, moved to Ontario in 1996 where Sherry took a job at Samuel Steel in Stoney Creek. She joined the H&K team in 2007 as a staff accountant and enjoys her daily role of helping clients maintain their books and minimize their taxes.

At home in Burlington, Sherry has 2 dogs (Sammy and Lucy) and 2 cats (Rodney and Earl) along with her hubby to keep her busy. They love to travel and are currently self-renovating their basement – we see a future Holmes on Holmes episode in their future!

Andre Wu - Senior Accountant

Andre joined the Steve Kirkham CA Professional Corporation team in the Fall of 2006. He obtained his CGA designation in 2007 with a focus on auditing of small and medium-sized business. Andre also holds an MBA from York University and is very proficient with several accounting software applications.

Having first come to Canada in 1999, Andre really appreciates the support he has received from friends and colleagues over the years to make him feel at home. With two children, Martina (9) and William (6), Andre and his wife are living in North-East Toronto. This helps provide our firm the opportunity to service clients in the east as well as west of the GTA.
